save the date cards

Do you really need Save the Dates?

Are you wondering if you really need to send Save the Date cards for your upcoming wedding?

Traditionally, engaged couples formally announced their upcoming nuptials in the newspaper or in their local church bulletin. Today, Save the Date cards have often replaced the official printed engagement announcement and are usually sent to your guests as a courtesy. If your wedding is taking place during a typically busy time of year (legal or religious holidays, graduation, etc.) or if many of your guests will need to make prior travel arrangements to attend, then a Save the Date card is highly recommended.

Mail your Save the Date cards 7 to 11 months prior to your wedding, so guests can plan ahead. Only send the cards to guests on your confirmed “A” list! Remember that “B” list guests are excluded from Save the Date card mailings.

The information on your Save the Date cards should include: wedding website information, hotel recommendations, and the city the ceremony will take place.
