Congratulations on your engagement! You will soon be shopping for your Wedding Dress!
So many brides talk about their biggest dress shopping regret(s), and you can always count on us to help you avoid making costly mistakes.
When should you begin looking for your dress? Before you even consider entering a Bridal Boutique, take time to first secure your venue and wedding date. The specific time of year your wedding will take place can dramatically influence the style of gowns and fabric options that are appropriate.
In our experience, it is best to order your dress at least 10 months prior to your wedding date. This optimal window of time allows you to avoid rush fees and ultimately save money. Typically, it takes anywhere from 5 to 9 months to have your dress arrive directly from the designer. Brides are often shocked that Designer Wedding Gowns take so long to arrive. But, Design Houses rely on an overseas factory and production only begins once a sufficient number of orders have been requested. Unfortunately, dresses are not hanging on a rack in warehouse, waiting to be ordered. For this reason, you can never order your dress too early!
Ordering your dress 10 months prior also provides adequate time for professional alterations. Every dress needs some type of altering, so plan on adding 8 to 12 weeks to your calendar to ensure your seamstress is not under a time crunch to make your dress fit perfectly. Fit is everything! Even the most minor of alterations can be time-consuming and thus costly.
Congratulations again on your engagement! Enjoy this special time! As a final reminder, bridal salons require appointments and are crowded on weekends, so schedule your visit soon.
